Type species. Caribboecetes magellani Just, 1984a .

Diagnosis. Caribboecetina with mandibular palp blunt, with small second article, not overreaching mandible body. Inner ramus of uropod 1 at most 1/2 length of outer ramus, flattened, with robust setae on margin (except Concholestes , longer, cylindrical). Inner lobes of lower lip complexly lobate ( Fig. 4 C View FIGURE 4 ). Ocular field of eye lobes inflated. Male antenna 2 at most as long as cephalon and pereon combined. Basis of pereopod 7 with marginal setae and midlateral, longitudinal row of setae ( Fig. 4 E View FIGURE 4 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Uropod 3 without ramus.

Component species. Ambicholestes crassicornis ( Just, 1984a) ; A. cygnatratus Just, 1998 ; A. magellani ( Just, 1984a) ; A. nanshaensis ( Ren, 2006) comb. nov.; A. poorei Just, 1998 ; A. squamiferus ( Just, 1984a) ; A. trilobatus Just, 1998 .
