Lathyrus sativus Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 730. 1753.

"Habitat in Hispania, Gallia." RCN: 5389.

Lectotype (Westphal, Pulses Ethiopia, Taxon. Agric. Signif.: 104, 106. 1974): Herb. Clifford: 367, Lathyrus 4 ( BM) .

Current name: Lathyrus sativus L. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Although Ali (in Biologia (Lahore) 11(2): 7. 1965) indicated 905.6 (LINN) as “type”, and a Clifford collection (BM) incorrectly as an isotype (they are evidently not part of a single gathering), 905.6 (LINN) lacks the Species Plantarum number (i.e. “5”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and is not original material for the name. Westphal subsequently designated the Clifford material as lectotype.
