Legs І 28 (26–30), femur 7 (7–8), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 9 (9–10); genu 4 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l'') 5 (4–5); tibia 5 (5–6); tarsus 5 (5–6); tarsal empodium simple, 5-rayed, tarsal solenidion knobbed. MALE: Unknown.

Types. Holotype, female, China: Shaanxi Province, Yang County, 33°35.23’N, 107°32.26’E. August 9, 2005, from Cotoneaster sp. B. Ehrhart ( Rosaceae ), coll. Xue, Xiao-Feng and Song, Zi-Wei. Paratypes, 6 females, with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology. The specific designation cotoneasteri is from the generic name of type host plant, Cotoneaster .

Remarks. This species is similar to Epitrimerus spiraeae Kuang, 1995 , but can be differentiated by the presence of admedian lines (admedian and submedian lines present in E. spiraeae ), paraxial tibial setae (l') located 1/3 from dorsal base (paraxial tibial setae located at center in E. spiraeae ), tarsal solenidion knobbed (tarsal solenidion rodlike in E. spiraeae ).
