All Bruchomyiinae View in CoL known from Dominican amber are classified in Boreofairchildia Wagner & Stuckenberg, 2016 View in CoL , type species: Nemopalpus sziladyi Tonnoir, 1940 View in CoL , (orig. des.).
The diagnosis for this genus is based on extant and fossil species ( Wagner & Stuckenberg 2015): Fourteen flagellomeres. Wing elongate; anal vein distally curved toward wing margin. Abdominal segments with pleurae and long hairs tufts; proximal abdominal tergites divided medially in some species. Male genitalia with basally widening vasa deferentia; aedeagus as long as or slightly shorter than ejaculatory apodeme; gonocoxite tubular, gonostylus basally wide tubular, with two or more specifically shaped distal lobes.
Fossil species included in this genus are Boreofairchildia dominicana sp. n., B. hennigianus ( Schlüter, 1978) comb. nov., and B. scheveni ( Wagner, 2006) .
