Material examined. Plankton —off the Huinay Scientific Field Station, 18.ii.2006, 04.xi.2006, 45–0 m, two medusae, partly damaged ( MHNG INVE 53569).
Type locality. Charleston Harbor , South Carolina, USA .
Remarks. For descriptions of this species, see Kramp (1959, 1968). The present material consists of two medusae, relatively poorly preserved, with the bell diameter of ca 2.3 mm.
World distribution. This species is widely distributed in the warm parts of all oceans, including the Mediterranean ( Kramp 1959).
Records from Chile. The present specimens originate from fjord Comau. This is the first record of this species for Chile.
