Prionyx (Harpactopus) reymondi ( Roth, 1954) View in CoL
( Fig. 10c View FIGURE10 )
Sphex reymondi Roth 1954:31 View in CoL , ♀, ♂. Holotype: ♀, “Ougarta (Sud oranais)” [ Algeria: Béchar Province: Béni Abbès commune: Ougarta] (MNHN).— As Sphex (Priononyx) reymondi View in CoL : de Beaumont 1968:149.— As Prionyx reymondi View in CoL : R. Bohart & Menke 1976:134; Danilov & Odintsev 2023:433; Pulawski 2024:29.
Possible synonymy. We did not find any differences from P. zarudnyi View in CoL except for the distribution in P. Roth’s description. In the description, P. Roth compared the new species only with P. crudelis View in CoL that was well known to him. Unfortunately, we were unable to study the type series of this species, so we can only assume that P. reymondi View in CoL may be a synonym of P. zarudnyi View in CoL .
Diagnosis. Both sexes of P. reymondi resemble P. subfuscatus , P. judaeus , and P. crudelis , but differ in having the wings smoky and the body brownish ( P. subfuscatus , P. judaeus , and P. crudelis have the wings yellow and the body black).
Description. Body brownish with fine dark erect setae. Head. Clypeus, subantennal sclerite, paraocular area and frons with fine, sparse, appressed, silvery setae. Mesosoma . Scutum slightly shiny, finely micropunctate and sparsely punctate. Metanotum tuberculate dorsally. Mesopleuron, metapleuron and propodeum areolate-rugose, shiny; propodeal enclosure dull. Wings smoky; veins light brown. Legs. Claws with 2 ventral teeth; arolia present.
Male. Body length 22 mm. Head. Clypeus with wide V-shaped median emargination. Metasoma. S6 entire, without teeth.
Female. Body length 22 mm. Head. Clypeus angulate, with U-shaped median notch. Legs. Tarsal rake of foreleg with long, stout, bladelike and some short, hairlike setae.
Material examined. None.
Distribution. Desert areas of the Saoura area ( Algeria).
