Diagnosis. ♂ ♀: labial palpus extremely shortened, inconspicuous, labial palpomeres 2–4 club-shaped; maxillar palpomere 6 inconspicuous; arolia absent; recurrent vein II of forewing received by submarginal cell III. ♂: placoids on F3–F6 broad, flat; S6 with pair teeth posterolaterally. ♀: clypeus entire, slightly emarginate anteriorly; tarsal rake with short, stout, bladelike setae.
Included species: Prionyx persicus ( Mocsáry, 1883) , P. radoszkowskyi ( Kohl, 1888) .
