Diagnosis. ♂ ♀: labial palpomeres 2–4 short, not club-shaped; arolia present; recurrent vein II of forewing interstitial with 1 st intersubmarginal vein or received by submarginal cell III at its basal angle. ♂: placoids on F3–F6 broad, flat; S6 angularly convex posterolaterally, without teeth. ♀: clypeus entire, slightly emarginate anteriorly; tarsal rake of foreleg with long, stout, bladelike and some short, hairlike or bladelike setae.
Included species: Prionyx chobauti ( Roth, 1925) , P. funebris ( Berland, 1926) , P. macula ( Fabricius, 1804) .
