Discussion: A comparison of four recent phylogenetic analyses of the non-pantherine cats shows little consensus at branch points other than those that might be recognized as genera. For this reason all non-pantherine cats are tentatively grouped together in the Felinae . Synonyms allocated according to McKenna and Bell (1997).
