Nomenclatural notes:— Satureia hostii , although validated by reference to “ Calamintha thymifolia Host fl. austr. ”, is the legitimate name of a new species, as Caruel (1884: 144) treated S. thymifolia Scop. as a synonym of Cuspidocarpus rupestris , a species name that he accepted. Stated to be a hybrid of Micromeria thymifolia (= Clinopodium album ) and C. nepeta . Host´s herbarium is at W constituting the best source for a possible lectotype. There is also a Host specimen of this taxon at K acquired from Bentham´s Herbarium in 1854 [ Calamintha thymifolia Hort. Vind. 17.9.1832, K!].
