TYPE LOCALITY: Sudan, Sennaar .

DISTRIBUTION: Senegal to Ethiopia, south to South Africa; Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia ( Tanzania); introduced into Lesser Antilles (Caribbean).

STATUS: CITES - Appendix II.
