TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Pernambuco .
DISTRIBUTION: Brazilian coast: Piaui, Cearâ, and Pernambuco Provinces.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix II.
SYNONYMS: albicollis , communis , hapale, leucotis , tertius, vulgaris .
COMMENTS: Includes aurita , flaviceps , geoffroyi , and penicillata according to Hershkovitz (1977:489-527), but refuted by Mittermeier et al. (1988) who recognized all of these species.
