Type Locality: India, Darjeeling.
Vernacular Names: Long-tailed Mountain Shrew.
Synonyms: Episoriculus irene (Thomas 1911) .
Distribution: C Nepal to W and S China and to N Burma and Vietnam.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Soriculus macrurus .
Discussion: Formerly confused with leucops , but shown to be a distinct species by Hoffmann (1985 b).
