Diagnosis. This species is similar to Coleophora clypeiferella Hofmann, 1871 , but differs from it by the apex of the sacculus broadly rounded, the bundle of cornuti longer, and the caudal margin of the sterigma wide and deeply concaved at middle.
Description. Adult (Fig. 1). Wing expanse: ɗ and Ψ, 8.5–13.5 mm. Head: Covered with greyish brown to white scales. Postocular scales greyish white. Labial palpus porrect, smooth or rough, greyish white to white, tinged with light brown; second segment appreciably longer than diameter of compound eye; third segment as long as second, apex pointed. Scales of haustellum white. Antenna with scape white with pale rough scales anteriorly; flagellum alternately light brown to black and white, basal 1/3 covered with long greyish white scales. Thorax: White to light brown. Tegula greyish white. Forewing with upper surface light brown, with scattered black scales near both margins and apex; FIGURES. 1–8. Coleophora parilis sp. n. 1, adult (paratype); 2, abdomen; 3, male genitalia (holotype, slide no. L05042); 4, Phallus complex; 5, male genitalia enlarged; 6, cornuti; 7, female genitalia (paratype, slide no. L05041); 8, signum.
costal margin white; ventral surface uniformly brown; cilia grey. Hindwing greyish brown, cilia grey. Foreleg brown; mid and hind legs greyish white. Abdomen (Fig. 2): First tergum with ten or eleven very large spiniform setae, from middle to both sides becoming smaller; each of the rest terga with a transverse row of smaller spiniform setae, 11–19 in number. Male genitalia (Figs. 3–6) with gnathos elongate, dorsally gently rounded, apex pointed. Tegumen wide, gradually narrowed distally; caudal margin gently concaved, supported by long ventral arms. Transtilla combined, middle portion broad, triangular. Valva short and broad, apex rounded; costa with basal 1/4 concaved, ventral margin straight. Valvula large, sclerotized, nearly rounded; outer margin more sclerotized, setose. Sacculus large and elongate, as long as valva, sclerotized; ventral margin gently convex at 1/3; apex bluntly subtriangular, with stiff setae; dorsal margin oblique, with large process upwardly extending approximating valvula and its distal 1/3 bent inward. Juxtal rods slender, slightly arched; dorsal rod longer and thicker than ventral rod; annulus slightly sclerotized, distinct, broad; about fifteen thin cornuti grouped into a slender bundle; outer sheath long; lamina developed and long, well sclerotized. Female genitalia (Figs. 7–8, 25) with papillae anales long and narrow, apex roundly pointed. Posterior apophyses longer than twice of anterior apophyses in length. Sterigma subtrapezoid; caudal margin narrowly and shallowly concaved medially; Ostium bursae narrow and small, about 1/7 width of sterigma at middle, with oblique folded carina. Colliculum infundibular, about half length of sterigma at middle, gradually narrowed forward. Ductus bursae nearly six times as long as sterigma; spinulate section broad, longer than twice length of anterior apophyses; spinules small, densely arranged; median lamina long, with one coil; anterior section membranous, more or less as long as spinulate section, grandully broadened forward. Corpus bursae small, rounded; signum small, elongate, spine slender.
Distribution. China (Inner Mongolia).
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin parilis (= equal), referring to the length of the sacculus which is as long as valva in the male genitalia.
