Distribution: E Brazil from Minas Gerais and S Bahia south to Rio Grande do Sul and E Paraguay.
Discussion: Previously included under Marmosa cinerea ; original name Didelphis cinerea Temminck, 1824 , preoccupied by D. cinerea Goldfuss, 1812 . Included in M. demerarae by Gardner (1993); see review by Patton and Costa (2003).
