Distribution and habitat. Uracentron azureum guentheri is endemic to Amazonia, with predominantly western distribution (eastern portion of its distribution delimited by the lower Negro River, and Madeira river basin), and one isolated record in the lower Trombetas River (eastern Amazonia), occurring in Brazil and Peru ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ). In Brazil it is known from the states of Pará, Amazonas, and Rondônia. Uracentron azureum guentheri is arboreal and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme forest, where it is found on trunks and canopy of trees (about 5 meters above ground), and occasionally at the edge of the forest ( Ávila-Pires 1995).
