Enyalius leechii ( Boulenger, 1885)

Type-locality. Santarém, state of Pará, Brazil.

Main taxonomic references. Boulenger (1885), Amaral (1933), Etheridge (1969, 1970b), Vanzolini (1973), Nascimento et al. (1987), Ávila-Pires (1995), Frost et al. (2001a), Bertolotto et al. (2002), Rodrigues et al. (2006, 2014).

Distribution and habitat. Enyalius leechii is endemic to southern Brazilian Amazonia, delimited by the Madeira and Amazon rivers (western and northern limits, respectively—Fig. 12), and it is known from the states of Maranhão, Pará, Mato Grosso, and Rondônia. It is predominantly terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits shaded primary terra firme forest, where it is found on the ground (extremely cryptic—color pattern provides an efficient camouflage on the dry leaves), and occasionally on vegetation (below 1.5 meter high—Ávila-Pires 1995; Vitt et al. 1996a; 1999; Macedo et al. 2008).
