Distribution and habitat. Anolis planiceps is endemic to northern Amazonia (western of Guiana region), occurring in Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, and Colombia ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ). In Brazil, it is known from the states of Amazonas and Roraima. Anolis planiceps is predominantly terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme forest, but it is also found in swamp forests and with low density on tepuis (Vitt & Zani 1996b; Myers & Donnelly 1997; Vitt et al. 2008a), where it is found on the leaf litter, and occasionally on lower vegetation ( Martins 1991; Ávila-Pires 1995; Vitt et al. 2008a).
