Anolis phyllorhinus Myers & Carvalho, 1945
Type-locality. Borba, lower Rio Madeira, State of Amazonas, Brazil.
Pertinent taxonomic references. Myers & Carvalho (1945), Williams (1965, 1979), Ávila-Pires (1995), Rodrigues et al. (2002), Nicholson et al. (2012), Castañeda & de Queiroz (2013), Prates et al. (2014).
Distribution and habitat. Anolis phyllorhinus is endemic to southern Amazonia, occurring in the Madeira– Tapajós interfluvium, in Brazil ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ), where it is known from the states of Pará, Amazonas, and Mato Grosso. It is arboreal and diurnal, inhabits the border of primary terra firme forest, in sunny places, where it is found on all structural habitats, from the ground to the canopy of high and large trees; although the majority of specimens collected were first seen 1–5 meters above the ground on tree trunks (Rodrigues et al. 2002).
