Type Locality: Somalia, Giohar (= Villaggio Duca degli Abruzzi).

Vernacular Names: Somali Golden Mole.

Distribution: Known only from the type specimen.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered as Chlorotalpa tytonis .

Discussion: Subgenus incertae sedis ( Bronner 1995 a). Assigned to Amblysomus by Simonetta (1968:31) and Petter (1981 a); Meester (1974) placed this species in Chlorotalpa .
