Distribution: Savannahs, from W Africa to Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subspecies may exist, but at least some of the features supposed to characterize them were based on changes to the female’s facial pattern during pregnancy ( Groves, 2001 c).
