There are 13 species of this huge Holarctic and Oriental genus have been described or reported from China. Only two of them belong to the sensu stricto Capnia : C. nigra and C. trispinosa . The other 11 species belong to the cordata species group ( C. bilobata , C. cordata , C. montivaga , C. oblate , C. qilianshana , C. tibetana , C. xiei and C. yunnana ) and pedestris species group ( C. longicauda and C. pedestris ) of the sensu lato Capnia , while C. zijinshana is treated as an isolated species presently assigned to sensu lato Capnia .
