Vernacular Names: Tucuman Tuco-tuco.
Distribution: NW Argentina.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Cabrera (1961) synonymized tucumanus under mendocinus . Considered distinct from mendocinus by Roig and Reig (1969) and Reig and Kiblisky (1969). Karyotype has 2n=28 and FN=52 ( Reig et al., 1992).
