94. Formica luctuosa   LSID .

Female. Length 7 1/2 lines.-Shining black: the vertex subopake; the head deeply emarginate behind; the anterior margin of the clypeus truncate. Thorax ovate; the mesothorax with a longitudinal impressed Une on each side; the metathorax delicately shagreened; wings subhyaline, the nervures rufotestaceous, with a fuscous stain running along their courseAbdomen ovate, smooth and shining; the scale of the peduncle quadrate, the upper margin entire; the vertex of the head, the sides of the pro- and metathorax with a few reddish-brown hairs.
