Cryptotendipes Lenz, 1941 View in CoL
Two species of Cryptotendipes are reported in Alaska: Cryptotendipes casuarius ( Townes, 1945) and Cryptotendipes emorsus ( Townes, 1945) . We collected C. casuarius adults from the Yukon River delta in late June and mid-July and a C. emorsus adult male from Peterson Creek in early August. These collections represent new faunistic records for Alaska. The larvae of Cryptotendipes are found in sand and mud substrates in lakes and rivers ( Epler et al. 2013).
