Constempellina Brundin, 1947 View in CoL
Hershey (1985) and O’Brien et al. (1997) reported Constempellina brevicosta (Edwards, 1937) , the only known species of this genus from Alaska, from Toolik Lake. Based on DNA barcoded materials, Bowser et al. (2020) found this species in the Slikok Creek Watershed in Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Constempellina larvae were collected in tundra ponds by Butler et al. (1980) and Lougheed et al. (2011), and on St. Matthew Island by Sikes et al. (2016). We also collected unknown larvae and pupae of Constempellina from Clear Creek in the Central bioregion in mid-June. The larvae of Constempellina construct cases and inhabit the littoral and profundal zones of lakes ( Brundin 1948).
