Cladosporium puris M.L.R. Freitas & O.L. Pereira sp. nov. ( Figure 2 View FIGURE 2 )

MycoBank: MB826908

Systematic position: Fungi, Ascomycota, Pezizomycotina, Dothideomycetes, Dothideomycetidae, Capnodiales , Cladosporiaceae .

Etymology:—The name reflects a native indigenous tribe that lived in the region where the fungus was collected.

Colonies on PDA attaining 36 mm diam after 14 days, at 25 ºC, under near-ultraviolet light, dark green to olive green, velvety, furrowed; reverse olivaceous grey. On MEA, colonies attaining 57 mm diam after 14 days, at 25 ºC, under near-ultraviolet light, dark green to olive green, pale olivaceous grey central mycelium; velvety; reverse olivaceous grey. Mycelium sparsely formed, 1.5–2 µm wide, pluriseptate, medium to dark brown, sometimes subhyaline, smooth or asperulate. Conidiophores solitary, cylindrical, 44−225 × 2−3 µm, arising terminal and laterally from hyphae, erect or somewhat flexuous, dark brown, septum conspicuous and thickened walls. Conidiogenous cells integrated, mainly terminal, cylindrical, sometimes geniculate-sinuous, sympodial proliferation, 7.5−42.5 × 2−3.5 µm, thickened and darkened conidiogenous loci (1–3). Ramoconidia cylindrical, 8−17.5 × 2.5−4 µm, 0−1 septum, pale brown, truncate base, somewhat thickened. Secondary ramoconidia oblong, oblong-ellipsoid, 5−12.5 × 2−3.5 µm, 2−3 distal hila, narrowed base, pale brown. Intercalary conidia numerous, catenulate, acrogenous, branching in all directions, ellipsoidal, aseptate, medium to dark brown, 3.5−6 × 2−3.5 µm, protuberant hila. Small terminal conidia subglobose to ellipsoidal, 2.5−4.5 × 2−3 µm, aseptate, medium to dark brown, protuberant hila.
