Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 9‒16 ). Wingspan 18.0–21.0 mm. Agonopterix angelicella is characterised by the forewing with a black stripe from before the outer margin of the cell extending obliquely to the tornus. It can be hardly distinguished from A. paraselini Buchner, 2017 ( Buchner 2017b) superficially, but can be separated by the transtilla not or indistictly widened near middle ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 36‒41 ), which is distinctly widened near middle in A. paraselini ( Buchner 2017b: 94, figs 65−66). It is more similar to A. ochrocephala Saito, 1980 , and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the latter species.
Distribution. China (Xinjiang), Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, northern and middle Europe ( Lvovsky 2001a).
