19. Ponera iridescens   HNS .

Worker. Length 2 1/2 lines.-Rufo-fuscous, smooth and shining, with iridescent tints of blue; antennae and legs, the apex of the metathorax, and the apical margins of the segments of the abdomen, ferruginous; the head with an abbreviated impressed line above the insertion of the antennas; the mandibles with their inner margin serrated, and three larger teeth at their apex; the scale of the abdomen compressed, elevated and rounded above. Abdomen oblong, the apical margin of the first segment slightly constricted.
