Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A‒B; plate I, fig. I

Locus typicus: USA, Arizona, Cochise County, Huachuca Mountains , Ash Cyn. Road, 31.39°N, 11.24°W, oakpine woodland, 5100 ft. Holotype: Male, 15.ii.‒14.iii.1994, leg. N. McFarland, Malaise trap ( PWMP). GoogleMaps

Description. Male. Head. Eye bridge 3 facets wide; antennae brown; 4th flagellomere with l/w-index of 5.0, haired as long as diameter, neck rather short. Palpus are 3-segmented, first segment with one bristle and a deep sensory pit. Thorax is brown, coxae and femora paler; scutum is haired rather long and yellowish; scutellum with two long bristles; posterior pronotum bare. Wings brownish; R1 = R; c = 2/3 w; y = x; y with macrotrichia; posterior wing veins distinct, without macrotrichia. Haltere are rather long and yellowish. Coxae yellowish, femora and tibiae brownish; tibial organ with a horseshoe-like patch of bristles; spurs of middle and hind tibiae are equally long, somewhat longer than the apex of tibia wide; claws are toothless. Abdomen. Hypopygium without intergonocoxal lobe or bristle patch; gonocoxites are haired short and sparsely on the inner ventral margin; gonostylus strong, concaved at the inner side and winged on the dorsal side, with an apical tooth (basal part pale) and 5 shorter spines: 3 above tooth, 2 located at the inner side (one near the tooth, the second more in the middle). Tegmen is wider than high, winged at the side, with fine teeth and a rather short aedeagus. Body length: 3 mm.

Comments. The species is characterized by strong gonostylus with an apical tooth and five shorter spines. The species is similar to Cam. camptochaeta ( Tuomikoski, 1960) and to Cam. orthochaeta Vilkamaa, Hippa & Heller, 2013. It differs from Cam. camptochaeta ( Tuomikoski, 1960) by a stronger winged dorsal side of gonostylus, straight spines at the inner side and three spines above the apical tooth. Moreover, Camptochaeta camptochaetosa sp. n. resembles Cam. orthochaeta Vilkamaa, Hippa & Heller, 2013 in having a dorsomedially broadened and apically narrowed gonostylus with two straight medial spines. It differs in having medial spines, equally in length as well as a tegmen which is basally wide, whereas in Cam. orthochaeta the basalmost spine of gonostylus is much longer than the more apical one and the tegmen is long and narrow.

Distribution. USA (Arizona).
