Iconella Mason, 1981: 74 View in CoL . Type species. Apanteles etiellae Viereck 1911: 178 View in CoL ; Type locality. Pullman Washington; Holotype male.
Diagnosis. Members of this genus are distinguished by having a strong median longitudinal carina on propodeum; vein cu-a (nervellus) in hind wing straight or sinuate near posterior end; T1 moderately to strongly narrowed apically, without a median depression; T2 much wider than long, with strongly diverging lateral margins and much shorter than T3; hypopygium large; ovipositor valves long and hairy and tapering gradually ( Mason 1981).
