Edessa angusticlada sp. n.
( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 , 6 E–F View FIGURE 6 , 8 C View FIGURE 8 , 9 View FIGURE 9 )
Etymology. Reference to the narrow arms of the anterior bifurcation of the metasternal process. Angustusnarrow; klado—branch.
Holotype male. BRAZIL, Pará: Bragança , 26–V–1978, M. F. Torres (1°03’41.19” S 46°46’58.63” W) ( MPEG). GoogleMaps
Paratype. BRAZIL, Rondônia: ♀ Porto Velho , 18–IX–1978, J. Becker leg. (8°45’39.69” S 63°54’01.34” W) ( MNRJ). GoogleMaps
Measurements. Head length (1.4–1.5); head width (2.5–2.7); pronotum length (2.6); pronotum width (6.7– 7.5); scutellum length (5.1–5.9); scutellum width (4.2–4.8); length of antennal segments (I: 1.0–1.1; II: 1.5–1.6; III: 2.2–2.6; IV: 2.5–2.8; V: 3.0); total length (11.6–13.7); abdominal width (7.2–8.4).
Diagnose. Pronotum rugose. Arms of the anterior bifurcation of the metasternal process long and narrow ( Fig. 3 E View FIGURE 3 ); excavation receiving half of fourth rostral segment. Peritreme clearly surpassing half of the distance between ostiole of the scent gland and lateral margin of the body ( Fig. 8 C View FIGURE 8 ). Evaporatorium with a long and raised crest in mesopleuron delimited by sulci; contiguous margin of meso and metapleuron slightly raised; metapleuron with two distinct little raised crests one short medial and the other long distal. Spiracles concolorous with ventral surface. Trichobothria in yellowish calli. Antennae and legs spotless.
Male ( Figs 3 A–C View FIGURE 3 ). Superior process of the genital cup formed by tiny light brown tubercles. Ventral part of the paramere with two short rounded lobes, base little wider than distal part; lobes not distinctly projected posteriorly.
Female ( Fig. 3 D View FIGURE 3 ). Genital plates setulose. Outline of gonocoxites 8 rounded; sutural border slightly divergent distally. Laterotergites 9 with base barely excavated.
Comments. Edessa angusticlada sp. n. and E. rugulata sp. n. show the pronotum rugose, more than in the other species, but the pictures presented bellow do not show properly this wrinkled area.
Distribution ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ). Brazil: Rondônia and Pará.
