Subgenus Proma Fibiger , new subgenus
Type species: Bilobiana maxima , new species, described below.
Proma has many highly derived character states, both externally and in the genitalia. It comprises 6 species, which are divided into two species-groups. Although the synapomorphies for the subgenus are numerous, the subgenus still has most of the characteristics of the genus. The subgenus is characterised by the following 10 character states; apomorphies for the subgenus are indicated by (apo.)
Imago (external).
Costa: blackish brown in medial area.
Male genitalia.
Tegumen: relatively short, similar in length to vinculum or a little longer (apo.).
Valve: longer than wide (apo.);
Fultura superior: ventrally free from diaphragm, with prominent bends, processes, or crests (apo.); fultura superior fused with ventral part of tegumen and dorsal part of juxta-anellus (apo.).
Ampulla: shorter than digitus (apo.).
Pollex : triangular, broadly basally.
Digitus: prominent, sharply bent near middle.
Female genitalia.
8 th segment: extended as V-shaped structure anteriorly through 7 th segment.
Ostium: on posterior margin of 6 th segment.
Antrum: cone-like, heavily sclerotised.
