( Plate 4 View PLATE 4 , figure 2; male genit. plate 15, figure 1)
Material examined.
Holotype: male, [ Indonesia, Java, Djakarta], Java, Batavia , 1885. Coll. RMNB.
Paratypes: 6 males with same data as holotype, 1 genit. prep. 3907 M. Fibiger from 1986, other recorded in 1882 (3), 1892, and 1893. Colls. MF, RMNH .
Diagnosis.
Wingspan: 12–13 mm.
Forewing: relatively broad, greyish brown.
Hindwing: termen slightly convex.
Transverse lines: brown; antemedial and postmedial lines well marked throughout; basal, antemedial, postmedial, and subterminal lines well marked by a black spot by costa: terminal line marked by black elongated dots.
Reniform: elongated, black.
Hindwing: greyish brown.
Underside: unicolorous greyish brown.
Abdomen: brown, without long anal tufts.
Male genitalia.
Saccus: short, rounded.
Vinculum: short.
Tegumen: long.
Tergite and sternite: indistinct.
Costa: almost straight.
Sacculus: narrow, short.
Ampulla: slightly asymmetrical, round, almost circular.
Pollex : short and heavily fused with clasper, with long hair-like setae.
Digitus: asymmetrical; relatively short, bent; right digitus much longer, stouter, and apically pointed than left one.
Juxta: higher than wide.
Anellus: dorsally fused with juxta.
Phallus: long and narrow, broadest by ductus ejaculatorius, slightly tapered, bent at 2/3; coecum relatively long, rounded apically.
Differential diagnosis.
The male genitalia of D. javai are similar to those of D. arborita , D. hackeri and D. thailandi but differ in having a more rounded ampulla; that of D. thailandi is slightly more elongated, and those of D. arborita and D. hackeri have the most elongated ampullae. The left and right digitus of D. javai are the shortest; those of D. arborita are longer and those of D. hackeri are the longest. The right digitus of D. javai is the broadest and that of D. hackeri is the longest. The constriction between ampulla and pollex is deep and wide in D. javai , D. arborita , and D. thailandi , but that of D. hackeri is small and narrow. In D. javai the angle of the bend of the phallus is 95°, whereas in the other three species it is 100° degrees.
