Material examined.
Holotype: male, Philippines, 1958, leg. B. Milliron, genit. prep. 3272 M. Fibiger. Coll. BPBM.
Diagnosis.
Wingspan: 13 mm.
Forewing: blackish brown.
Transverse lines: black; terminal line marked by black dots between veins.
Reniform: distinct, whitish grey, outlined by black.
Hindwing: unicolorous brown with an indistinct black discal spot.
Underside: unicolorous brown.
Hindleg: with prominent, black scent brush.
Male genitalia.
Tegumen: narrow.
Vinculum: short, stout.
Saccus: U-shaped, short.
Fultura superior: T-shaped with long narrow arms, fused with upper middle part of tegumen and ventrally with juxta-anellus; where three arms meet, a finger-like, ventrally directed, apically blunt process arises. Valve: shorter than wide.
Ampulla: long, club-like, broadest subapically; densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.
Pollex : relatively long, finger-like, broadest medially; outwards densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.
Digitus: long, narrow, tapered, bent, directed ventrally, apically pointed.
Juxta-anellus plate: huge, round, as wide as high.
Phallus: straight, slightly tapered towards apex, which has a prominent, curved carina spine; coecum short and broad.
Vesica: with a slightly bent, spine-like cornutus.
Differential diagnosis.
P. philippini differs from other species by the relatively long, finger-like pollex, which is broadest medially, and the curved spine at the apex of the phallus.
