Tampu Inanjing , 20 km E Sipirok, 1435 m, 01°37’50” N 99°20’30” E, 27.ii.2002, leg. and genit. preps 4522 (female), 4523 (male) M. Fibiger. Colls. CNC, HNHM, MF GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis.

Wingspan: 14–16 mm.

Forewing: dark brown ground colour, darker than in other species of Tolpia .

Transverse lines: well marked, brown; basal, antemedial, and postmedial lines marked with a black spot by costa.

Reniform: distinct, elongated, black.

Hindwing: relatively short, dark brown.

Underside: unicolorous brown.

Abdomen: brown, with a black crest on first segment; male with a long black to brown anal tufts.

Male genitalia.

Saccus: short, V-shaped.

Vinculum: short.

Tegumen: very long.

Fultura superior: fused with tegumen by a triangular process on left side.

Tergite and sternite: indistinct.

Costa: a prominent thorn-like process at base.

Sacculus: a heavily sclerotised, short, cone-like process apically on each side.

Ampulla: slightly asymmetrical, kidney-shaped, apically smoothly rounded a prominent, spine-like process by base on dorsal side.

Pollex : left side thumb-like; right pollex half as long as left one; both with long hair-like setae.

Digitus: prominently asymmetrical, left digitus longer; both sides long, narrow, bent, pointed apically. Phallus: extremely long, broadest by ductus ejaculatorius, coiling clock-wise, bent 2/3 out, slight tapering towards apex; coecum very long (plate 14, fig 5 shows phallus in its original position).

Female genitalia.

Ovipositor: quadrangular.

Anterior apophyses: length equal to that of posterior apophyses.

8 th abdominal segment: very narrow, ventrally fused with the 7 th segment.

7 th abdominal segment: heavily sclerotised; ostium in middle segment.

6 th abdominal segment: posterior part heavily sclerotised, fused to 7 th segment; remainder of 6 th segment less heavily sclerotised, similar to basal segments.

Antrum: relatively long and large, tapered, coiling, heavily sclerotised, twice as long as wide.

Ductus bursae: posteriorly sclerotised, otherwise membranous; 2½ X as long as corpus bursae.

Ductus seminalis: arises close to posterior end of antrum.

Corpus bursae: globular.

Differential diagnosis.

T. peniculus is undoubtedly close to T. kampungi , and also to the other species of the kampungi -species group but differs from these by the process of the fultura superior, the costal process by the base of the ampulla, the longer left digitus, and the longer, narrower coecum.
