Tolpia sarawakia Fibiger, new species
( Plate 3 View PLATE 3 , figure 5; male genit. plate 14, figure 2)
Material examined.
Holotype: male, [ Malaysia, 20 km N Miri, Kuala Baram ], Baram, -.x.[18]91, leg. Everett, genit. prep. 3897 M. Fibiger. Coll. BMNH.
Diagnosis.
Wingspan: 13 mm.
Transverse lines: brown, indistinct, the basal, antemedial, postmedial, and subterminal lines well marked by a black spot by costa; terminal line marked by black elongated dots.
Reniform: elongated, brown.
Hindwing: brown.
Underside: unicolorous brown.
Abdomen: brown with long anal tuft.
Male genitalia.
Saccus: short, rounded.
Vinculum: short.
Tegumen: long.
Tergite and sternite: indistinct.
Costa: almost straight, apically with free extension; valve broadest by costal extension.
Sacculus: narrow, inconspicuous.
Ampulla: slightly asymmetrical; club-like, apically smoothly rounded, a small basal hump dorsally.
Pollex : small and apically rounded, with long hair-like setae.
Digitus: prominently asymmetrical; relatively short; right digitus shorter, straighter and apically more blunt than right digitus.
Juxta: with a prominent ventral mushroom-like process; higher than wide.
Anellus: fused with juxta.
Phallus: extremely long and extremely narrow, broadest by ductus ejaculatorius and swollen slightly distal to this; phallus outwards slightly tapered, abruptly coiling at 2/3; coecum very long and pointed.
Differential diagnosis.
Differs from T. parasarawakia and T. kuchingia in the longer and narrower ampulla, the smaller basal process on the right ampulla, the shorter right digitus, the more prominent swelling of the phallus, the longer coecum, and the more sharply coiled subapical part of phallus. T. sarawakia and T. parasarawakia differ from T. kuchingia in the more pointed digitus on both sides, the shorter digitus on right side, and the shape of phalli of all three differ subapically.
