Type Locality: Guinea, Mt. Nimba, baraque de Zouguépo.
Vernacular Names: Nimba Shrew.
Distribution: Submontane and primary lowland forest in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire; in the Tai National Park (Côte d’Ivoire) it occurs only in undisturbed primary forest ( Churchfield et al., 2004).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: A very distinct species; not conspecific with wimmeri as previously suggested (see Hutterer, 1983 a).
