Sorolopha semiculta (Meyrick, 1909) View in CoL
( Figures. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 12 View FIGURES 11 – 18 , 22 View FIGURES 21 – 24 )
Argyroploce semiculta Meyrick, 1909 , J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc., 19: 604; Clarke, 1955: 283; Fletcher, 1920: 61. TL: Sri Lanka.
Argyroploce heteraspis Meyrick, 1936 , Exotic Microlepid., 4: 614 (Ƥ); Clarke, 1955: 158. TL: Taiwan. Olethreutes semiculta ; Clarke 1958: 547, pl. 272, figs. 3-3a, 4-4c (wing, 3, Ƥgenit.). Sorolopha semiculta ; Diakonoff 1973: 76, figs. 114, 121–123 (3, Ƥgenit.).
Diagnosis: According to Diakonoff (1973), the male genitalia of this species belong to the type of S. argyropa , but it can be separated from the latter by the less robust socius with denser apical setae, the less angulate projection of the sacculus, the slenderer cucullus, and the shorter aedeagus.
Specimens examined: 1Ƥ, Cucphuong, Ninhbinh province, 31.VI. 2005 ( Y.S. Bae); 23, Cucphuong, Ninhbinh province, 24.IV.2006 ( Y.S. Bae); 13, Bavi, Hanoi province, 2.VIII.2010 ( Y.S. Bae & X.V. Le).
Host plants: Alseodaphne semicarpifolia (Lauraceae) in India (Meyrick 1916), Persea americana (Lauraceae) in Taiwan (Meyrick 1936), and Cinnamonum camphora (Lauraceae) in Thailand (Kawabe 1989).
Distribution: Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Solomon Islands, India, Assam, Sri Lanka.
Remarks: The species was first recorded from North Vietnam by Kuznetsov (1988).
Sorolopha plinthograpta (Meyrick, 1931) ( Figs. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 13 View FIGURES 11 – 18 )
Argyroploce plinthograpta Meyrick, 1931 , Exotic Microlepid., 4: 135 (Ƥ); Clarke 1955: 253. TL: Taiwan. Olethreutes plinthograpta ; Clarke 1958: 539, pl. 268, fig. I.
Eudemis plinthograpta ; Issiki, 1957: 60, no. 332, pl. II, fig. 332. TL: Taiwan.
Sorolopha plinthograpta ; Diakonoff 1973: 84, figs. 131–133 (Ƥ, 3 genit.).
Diagnosis: This species resembles S. semiculta (Meyrick) , but S. plinthograpta has a longer, slenderer tegumen, longer and narrower socii lacking apically modified setae (i.e., simple hairs throughout), and an obliquely truncate aedeagus. This species is similar to S. autoberylla (Meyrick) and S. plumboviridis Diakonoff in features of the male genitalia, but S. plinthograpta has denser setae on the socius; the sacculus has a smaller spine cluster on the angle; and the cucullus has very long setae beneath the ventral prominence.
Specimens examined: 23, Tamdao, Vinhphuc province, 5–6.VII.2003 ( Y.S. Bae); 13, 1Ƥ, Bavi, Hanoi province, 19.VII.2010 ( Y.S. Bae & X.V. Le).
Host plants: Cinnamomum japonicum (Lauraceae) , Persea thunbergii , ( Lauraceae ), Pueraria montana var. ( Fabaceae ) in Asia (Kawabe 1982).
Distribution: Vietnam, Korea (S), Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia (Java).
Remarks: The species was first recorded from Vietnam by Kuznetsov (1997).
