Lecithocera chloroscia Meyrick, 1938 View in CoL
( Figs. 13 View FIGURE 13 A–F)
Lecithocera chloroscia Meyrick, 1938 View in CoL . Institut des Parcs Nationaux du Congo bel ge 14: 14.
Material examined. 1♂ (holotype), Musée du Congo, Kivu, Kibati (1900 m) 10–20.i.1934, G.F. de Witte, Parc Nat. Albert; Congo belge: Kivu, Kibati, 1900 m, 10–20.i.1934, G.F. de Witte: 160; R DÉT . 4080; P. 152, gen slide no. CIS-7137/Park, in RMCA.
Diagnosis. Male ( Fig. 9A View FIGURE 9 ). The species is characterized by having a pair of the discal spots on the forewing; forewing slightly dilated distally.
Redescription. Wingspan 17 mm. Abdomen with a pair of well-developed hair-like pencils between segments VII and VIII ( Fig. 13F View FIGURE 13 ).
Male genitalia ( Figs. 13D, E View FIGURE 13 ). Basal lobes of uncus with caudal margin slightly concave. Gnathos narrowed toward apex, strongly bent beyond 2/3. Costal bar narrow, with median angle. Valva broad basally; cucullus nearly parallel-sided, with short setae on surface and peg-like spines along ventral margin; sacculus broadly developed, extending to middle of ventral margin, acuted apically. Juxta deeply concave medially. Aedeagus stout, broadened basally, as long as valva; cornuti consisting of a long sclerotized plate connecting with a strongly bent, ring-shaped plate, located beyond middle.
Remarks. This species was described based on a single male. It is correctly assigned to the genus Lecithocera , even though the male genitalia are more or less similar to those of Homaloxestis , but the forewing has CuA 1 and CuA 2 stalked near base, while these veins are free in Homaloxestis .
Distribution. DR Congo (Nord-Kivu).
