Type: Thysananthus anguiformis ( Hooker & Taylor 1844: 567) Taylor ex Gottsche, Lindenberg & Nees (1845: 289)

Dorsal epidermal cells of stem larger than inner cells. Underleaf bases adnate with leaves on one side. Margins of female bracts and bracteoles entire.

Distribution: New Zealand and New Caledonia.
