Genus Garra Hamilton, 1822

Based on the molecular data provided by Sayyadzadeh et al. (2015) and Esmaeili et al. (2016a), populations occurring in Kol River might be a distinct species, but we could not find any diagnostic morphological characters between Kol populations and others. Previously Garra variablis was previously reported from Iran, but based on our observations and other studies (e.g., Esmaeili et al. 2016b), the presence of this species from Iran can not be confirmed.
