TYPE MATERIAL EXAMINED. — D. subrectum : holotype USNM 176124 About USNM . — D. bisinuatum : holotype MHNG 1155/40 (ex. M3/35).
TYPE LOCALITY. — D. eburneum : India. — D. bisinuatum: Amboyna [= Ambon, Indonesia]. — D. subrectum : Philippines.
NEW MATERIAL EXAMINED. — New Caledonia proper. 165°13’- 165°14.5’E, 6-15 m, 2 dd . — Koumac. EXPÉDITION Touho. EXPÉDITION MONTROUZIER: stn 1250, 20°46.7’S, MONTROUZIER: stn 1313, 20°38.8’S, 164°15.6’E, 33-38 m, 165°13.7’E, 3-6 m, 1 lv, 5 dd; stn 1251, 20°46.0’- 20°46.5’S, 34 lv, 15 dd.
DISTRIBUTION. — Global distribution: Indian Ocean , China Seas , Malaya, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and New Caledonia (first record); live in 3-200 m (Scarabino 1995). Distribution in the New Caledonian region: east coast: Touho; west coast: Koumac; live in 6-33 m.
REMARKS. — Laevidentalium bisinuatum was based on regarding a broken apex as a species character. Study of the type specimen reveals that it is a broken specimen of L. eburneum , justifiyng the proposed synonymy. Concerning Episiphon subrectum , see Episiphon virgula , above.
