DISTRIBUTION. — East, west and south coasts of Grande Terre and South of Ile des Pins, live in 400-495 m, shells in 202- 574 m.
DESCRIPTION. — Shell up to 3 mm long, translucent white. Maximum diameter at centre of shell. Apical constriction short, well defined by curved sides. In lateral view, ventral side has a regular, pronounced curve to the caudal area, dorsal side has an alternating slightly concave and convex outline. Dorsal view fusiform. Apex simple, wide, section oval, dorsoventrally compressed. Preapical callus thin but conspicuous. Mouth laterally compressed, oblique.
Measurements of holotype: L 2.34, W 0.52-0.50, mouth 0.36-0.30, w 0.28-0.16.
REMARKS. — Cadulus rocroii can be included in the above mentioned C. aratus Hedley, 1899 ) complex. It is similar to C. aratus s.s. in dorsal view, but in lateral view it differs considerably in having a distinct caudal constriction.
ETYMOLOGY. — Named after J.-P. Rocroi who, as a volunteer at MNHN since 1987, has been compiling a nomenclator of molluscan supra-specific names, including the recent nomenclator of gastropod family-group names ( Bouchet & Rocroi 2005).
