5 dd (holotype MNHN 20143 and 3 paratypes MNHN 20144);

DISTRIBUTION. — Southwestern New Caledonia, 227-757 m, shells only.

DESCRIPTION. — Shell up to 4.1 mm long, slighlty curved, translucent greyish, growth lines prominent. Shell tapering along its entire length from the contracted oral opening to the apex. Apex wide, circular, ventral side extended, with a notch that creates 2 short unequal lobes. Preapical callus thick. Oral aperture circular, not oblique.

Measurements of the holotype: L 4.1, W 0.5, w 0.2.

REMARKS. — The notched apical lobe is the most distinctive character of this species. Cadulus vicentianus Cotton & Godfrey, 1940 is similar, with a single sharp lobe on the ventral side, but it is simple, not notched as in the present species.

ETYMOLOGY. — Greek, hysteros (posterior) and aulax (notch), referring to the apical structure. Used as a noun in apposition
