DISTRIBUTION. — Southern New Caledonia, Norfolk Ridge, live in 440-569 m, shells in 291-967 m.

DESCRIPTION. — Shell up to 3.6 mm long, slightly curved, translucent. Growth lines dense throughout. Maximum diameter 1/3 of the shell length from the mouth. Apex circular, oblique, with wide preapical callus protruding on ventral side. Lumen small, circular. Mouth dorsoventrally depressed, not oblique.

Measurements of holotype: L 3.6, W 0.63, mouth 0.44-0.34, w 0.30-0.29.

REMARKS. — The most distinctive character of Gadila lozoueti is the thickness and shape of the apex and the dense and prominent growth lines. It is variable in shell shape but the apical charactersitics are constant.

ETYMOLOGY. — Named after Pierre Lozouet, MNHN, a participant in the NORFOLK 1 Expedition.
