Measurements. total length: 15.9–17.4; head length: 1.9–2.1; head width: 3.0–3.4; pronotal width: 10.0–11.0; abdominal width: 8.8–9.7; length of antennal segments. I: 0.8–1.0; II: 1.7–1.9; III: 1.2–1.7; IV: 3.4–4.6; V: 4.4; interocular distance: 1.4–1.6; scutellum length: 7.2–8.3; scutellum width: 5.7–6.1; pronotal length: 3.3–3.7.
Diagnosis. Anterolateral margin of pronotum without solid black stripe. Cicatrices with black punctures delimiting anterior sulci ( Fig. 18G View FIGURE 18 ). Anterolateral margin with few punctures black. Male ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A–C). Pygophore with dorsal rim widely excavated. Superior process of genital cup small, tongue-like with a dorsal transverse crest; near dorsal rim ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Paramere with a single lobe curved anteriorly, tapering and elongated, margin rounded; shank flat with a developed carina on inner side continuing in a low carina on anterior lobe ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Proctiger with laterodorsal tufts of setae separated by wide tumid ridge; posterior face ogival ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Ventral rim with expansions rounded, flat, level with posterolateral angles in ventral view ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ); base of each expansion with a conspicuous transverse carina ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ). Female ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ). Gonocoxites 8 with posterior margin almost straight, slanting, inner angle acute; sutural border divergent from the base, gonapophyses 8 partially exposed.
Comments. Breddin (1907) considered Edessa dolosa very similar to E. quadridens . They can be differentiated by the shape of the paramere and superior process of the genital cup ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 and 1B View FIGURE 1 ); gonocoxites 8 more flat in H. dolosus (convex in H. quadriden s), posterior margin of the gonocoxites 8 more straight in H. dolosus (arched in H. quadriden s), ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 and 1D View FIGURE 1 ).
Distribution ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 ). ECUADOR: Carchi, Pichincha, Bolívar.
