Distribution in Armenia: Upper Akhuryan, Aragats, Lori, Ijevan, Aparan, Sevan floristic regions. In broad-leaved forests, forest edges, meadows, shrubberies, at an altitude of 1500–2400 m above sea level. Cultivated almost everywhere, mainly in the northern regions of the country and in the Lake Sevan basin.

Phenology: Flowering May–July; fruiting August–September.

For the Aparan floristic region, the occurrence of R. idaeus is reported for the first time.

General distribution: in Caucasus (almost everywhere), Eurasia from West Europe to East Siberia and Central Asia mountain ranges, North America.
