= R. sanguineus Frivaldszky (1835: 334) ; Yuzepchuk (1941: 24); Heslop-Harrison (1968: 15) = R. ulmifolius Schott subsp. anatolicus Focke (1886: 335) = R. anatolicus (Focke) Focke ex Haussknecht (1893: 90) .

Distribution in Armenia: Aragats, Ijevan, Zangezur, Meghri floristic regions. In broad-leaved forests, shrubberies of the steppe zone, on mountain slopes, along river and brook banks, at an altitude of 600–1700 m above sea level.

Phenology: Flowering June–August; fruiting September–October.

For the Aragats floristic region, the occurrence of R. sanctus is indicated for the first time.

General distribution: Caucasus, East Mediterranean, Iran, Himalayas (northwest).

Annual shoots glabrous or with scattered pubescence; leaves 5-foliolate, leaflets unevenly coarsely incised-toothed, gradually pointed; inflorescence elongated, narrow, pyramidal or almost cylindrical.
