NOTES: The Listers when describing this variety in the paper “Mycetozoa from Japan ” (Lister & G. Lister 1906: 228),
wrote “On dead wood. Ichinono, Kii, Aug. 24th, 1903 ”, and gave the collection number “BM 1994” later commenting
“We have received this variety once before from the State of New York, and from the striking colour of the stalks propose to distinguish it as var. fulvum .”
In BM the Japanese collection was located ( BM 1994 ) with label data identical to the publication, so we consider it to be the holotype. There is also a slide of this material ( BM 1994 ), but we did not locate any notes in the notebooks .
